Sony DVD WR Drive Help...

I recently bought a Sony DVD WR drive, The Model is DW-Q30A BK and everything seems to work fine but i find something strange. when i installed the drive and clicked on "My Computer" It shows the regular DVD Drive and sees the DVD WR drive that i just installed... but everytime i put in a DVD R inside, It changes and then sees the drive as "CD Drive". I bought it as OEM but Windows should provide the drivers just fine (XP Media Center SP2). I also changed the jumpers as i have both drives on the same IDE so i have the top as master and the WR as Slave. I burned some pictures on a reagular CD R without any problem but when i tried burning pictures or videos on DVD R, Windows tells me that there is a problem. (using Memorex DVD R, BTW). Could it be the DVD R that im using? Why would windows see the DVD WR drive as a "CD Drive" once theres a disk inside? Should i buy a DVD creating Software? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

 

The drive should of came with a CD with software on it like Nero 6 express.
