I have a Sony VGN-NR220E running XP Home Edition. Has 1gb memory. 160GB hard drive, the video is 256mb.

The problem is that it will only run in Safe Mode. When I boot in normal mode it goes to the XP logon screen and then goes blank. If I push on the case top, bottom, side, it does not matter where I push it comes on but if I let go it goes away. I thought it was a video issue, but if that were the case why does it run in safe mode. I am just at a total blank on this. I have took it apart and reassembled it 4 times and it still does the same thing. I have installed, Vista, Xp, and Windows 7 and it acts the same on all three programs. I have check all driver issues, software issues, now what. Thanks

It could still be the video, as in safe mode., the system is not running advanced video settings. Safe Mode runs on bare minimums and therefore could explain why the video card is acting up. Something appears to be shorting out on the video. I would check the motherboard for any missing or broken solder.....just to be on the safe side
