Hey guys. I have had this TV for a couple years. I has developed quite a bit of (light) green striping and bloches. in spite of the excellent care I have taken to avoid static objects remaining on the screen. I have Dish Network and the green tints appear to be left from the menu that comes up each time you change the channel. So in some spots there in a green hue that messes up the color.

I searched the forums for posts regrding this model and didnt find any. I hope hardware is the correct place for this post...

I have tried very ard to avoid sunlight on the screen and the only possible interefering objects would be my speakers which are no closer than 3 feet from the set.

Do I simply have to live with this color burn-in on a $3k display? Can anything be done to get rid of it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Probably permanently burned in.

The green color seems to move around the screen so I don't think it is permanent burn in.

It is there on DVD and cable box. Best Buy repairman says that it needs a new "light box". He says that the blue layer is burnt. He says that Sony extended thier warranty to cover this part because of a defect and he will be back in 2 weeks to replace it. And he says that the screen cannot suffer permanent burn in but this "light box" can.

The repair guy was here because the TV shuts itself off when I try to turn it on. It flashes 4 red lights indicating a temperature issue.

This guy says the 2 problems are related and the new part will fix both. It is hard for me to trust this guy. Best buy has 1 more chance to fix the power/temp issue and then I am gonna opt for a new set.
