Sony Vaio and Outlook

I have a weird problem with a Sony Vaio and Outlook. When the notebook starts up, it automatically starts Outlook. I don't want it to. I've checked the Startup folder and there is nothing there. I even uninstalled the OEM trial of Office and installed a regular copy. I looked in MSConfig and the Windows/Run section of the registry and there is nothing. Any clue? I couldn't even find a support section of the Sony website. Thanks for looking!

just for background info, which OS and Office versions are we talking about?

one thing that i can think of off hand is the Office Startup Assistant ( OSA ) that could well be automating the startup of Outlook http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;290144

Office 2003 and Windows XP. I checked the startup folder and there is nothing in it.
