I have a Sony Vaio laptop & the CD part of the CD/DVD drive has stopped working. It will still play a DVD, but will not play or record cd's. If I put a new cd in to record on, the player makes some noise and then says to insert a blank cd. If I put in a (non-copied) music cd, it makes the same weird noises & nothing plays. Also won't work for photo or data cd's. Again, works perfect for DVD's. Does anyone know what's up confused I'm looking for my receipt but I'm pretty sure I bought it at the end of May '06, so it's over a year. We called Sony and they had me uninstall drivers, then reinstall -- no work. Then he had me do a complete recovery -- also no work. He told me that the cd/dvd drive can't be changed by me & that I'd have to send it into Sony. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone tell me how hard it is to change this myself & maybe where to find one? I know it's not a pop in or out. Thanks in advance:), Chuck
