Sony Vaio lcd problem and hdd problem??

I've had a Sony Vaio VPCEE3EOE(windows 7) for about 14 months with no probs at all but lateley the screen has stopped working intermittently so I've been using a monitor until I sort it out.I set it back to factory settings and it worked for a while but then did it again so I set it back again but it still had the same problem straight after I did this so I'm thinking it may be a hardware issue.I tried re-installing the graphics driver but this didn't work so I don't know what to do know.The problem has got worse and now the screen only comes on about once every 50 restarts.The only other issues with the computer are every now and then on startup it does a chkdsk even though the comp has been shutdown properly but doesn't find anything.And google chrome occasionally gets corrupt but still works.Not sure if these are related.If anyone has any ideas I'd be eternally grateful.

Agree with plodr so that really only leaves the screen. Doesn't sound like the other issues are connected. If it's out of warranty I'd take it to a computer shop and have it checked out.

Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear.

 

Intermittent nature, you describe, sounds like an electro - physical issue; e.g. broken wiring, or connector not seated. Methinks shop check is way to go, also.

Thanks for the replies.The strange thing is whenever it works it never goes off while you're using it,it either works or it doesn't.Guess I better bite the bullet and take it in.
