Man.. the OC forums here are DEAD, I don't mean to seem inpatient or anything but i feel that if I don't say anything, I'll end up posting on another forum and, I don't wanna do that cause you guys here helped me build my rig and I like the help i get here, you ppl really know what you're doing. Again sorry, But i have questions, and Id rather get my answers here..

No offence I come here for the "rock solid" advice and discussions as well as info "specifically relating" to "trouble shooting". It has helped me isolate many software and or hardware issues and nowadays I can offer advice confidently.

    But different horses for different courses and for OC and enthusiasts knowledge I am members at "those relevant" forums, examples include;

    OCAU
    XS
    I4Memory
    etc
    etc

Each cater for very specific "niche" categories and you will find "technical specialist" frequenting them. The point of forums is the "sharing" of knowledge and if you find your attainment rates lowering you go elsewhere.

MG, Chaslang, Halo, Dbl and the many others (hope none feel offended if inadvertently excluded but I ain't writing a thesis!) that provide an incredible wealth of knowledge for troubleshooting should know what I mean. I still come here to develop and hone my "troubleshooting knowledge" but for more specific knowledge I go elsewhere (often coming back and sharing).

Or you could look here for some.
Green bar at the bottom of this or any page.
    Click on Archive.
Scroll down to the section wanted and click on it.

eh, I had a question about my memory speed and overclocking, I guess i waited too long to respond so my questions were left unanswered. But again the OC forum here is dead it's no wonder no one hasn't replied back yet.

Thanks for all the other info/tips.

Copied over from the OC thread..

    jacknimble:
    "400 MHz = DDR2 800 = PC2 6400
    533 MHz = DDRx 1066 = PCx 8500 (I think you can get DDR2 or DDR3 at this speed)
    667 MHz = DDR3 1333 = PC3 10600
    800 MHz = DDR3 1600 = PC3 12800

If you have DDR2 800, then 400 MHz is correct."

    Me:
    "Memory
    Kingston 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500)

    Brand Kingston
    Model KVR1066D3N7/2G
    Type 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM

    Tech Spec
    Capacity 2GB
    Speed DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500)
    Cas Latency 7
    Voltage 1.5V"

    Me:
"From what i read here, My ram being 8500 means that it's 533mhz, Meaning if i set my memclock in bios to 533mhz That would be fine, But that's probably what it defaults at when setting memclock on auto, right?"

Not necessarily it will also depend on whether you have a FSB (typical of LGA775 CPUs) and the DRAM:FSB Ratio you have set. Most RAM will have numerous speed profiles within the SPD, CPU-Z will show these.

As it s very unlikely you would have a FSB speed of 533MHz you may find your RAM "downclocking" to the FSB or run at a ratio to the FSB.

    So 533MHz??

On the "memory" tab you should find your ratios and current RAM speed, for example:

Yours does indicate it is running at 533MHz at DDR (Double Data Rate) with an effective speed of 1066MHz per cycle, hope that helps.

I agree, I don't think i need to even bother OC'ing, Once i get a nice Gfx card This rig will probably do what i want, As for the memory clock, i was just curious if it is running at it's max speed, 533Mhz, Not any lower, Because in the memclock the first setting is 400MHz, then 533 and so on, I also wanted to know if by setting memclock on auto if it sets to 533Mhz by default, or is 400MHz default??
