    How do I answer/post a reply to Bill Marsden??? I have CCleaner but am too scared to use it because I think I stuffed up hubby's PC recently! And, I definitely don't want to muck around with the Registry! :)

    I have CCleaner and we use it to clean our work computers 4500 PC 3000 Laptops. Most of the registry files selected by CCleaner, are registry files you don't really need; Just clear whatever CCleaner Scanned Issues finds; After CCleaner finishes scanning for known Registry issues, just click on Fix Selected Issues...; If you are afraid you might loose something in the registry, you can create a backup of Registry at this point and then proceed with cleaning, otherwise say NO; then Click Fix Issue; Closed and Run Registry cleaner until you have Zero files to clean;

    Hope this really helps...please let me know.

    You've reached me, for what it's worth. You can also send private mail here, but you have to select the option. How can I help?

    Don't be afraid to ask questions because you're afraid they might be dumb. We were all there at some time, and this site is here to help everyone, especially newbies.

    Thanks for reply! As I said...am unsure/scared of using CCleaner due to hubby's woes! I tried 'googling' in the search bar: www.http.com?...it seems? to be connected somehow to .NET stuff from MS or, am I completely way off beam? But, it's definitely...even after restarting etc....taken over my Firefox homepage! How come nothing has picked it up...or is it semi-legit?? Plus, I keep looking for a reply...but am unsure....tried reloading page?

    The read this file should answer these kind of questions, without reviewing it myself I believe it says you should use the default settings, and it should be safe. I'm not one of the moderators I mentioned earlier, just a regular here at this forum. I gotta tell you though, those guys have the patience of Job, in spades.

    Everyone here is a volunteer. Sometimes I ask the questions, sometimes I try to answer the questions.

    So I guess the best answer is, read the directions carefully and follow them, and you'll be OK. I've done it myself, they are pretty good. If you run into something you're not sure of (such as this) then ask the question in that forum (Malware forum) and one of the guys and gals will help.

    The only problem I've had is the automatic logging of passwords tends to be lost. If you have malware this isn't a bad thing though, because they (the bad guys) can't get to them either.
