Needed a phone cord last night, had a few, but wow, what a mess the Cipher Big Box 'O Cables® had become. :confused Had no idea what was in the thing...

    • Serial Mice/Keyboards galore.
    • Mac Pro mouse
    • Modems
    • Various lengths of cat 5 cables
    • RCA cables galore
    • USB cables in every conceivable configuration
    • Power cords (including translucent Mac ones)
    • Speaker wire, stranded and solid
    • Various AC to DC power supplies
    • An Entegra serial to USB adapter for an old mac I had

Of course everything was a tangled mess. I have sorted them and wound them up and tied them with cotton 3 strand cord.

    I feel much better... :)

I don't bother untangling the ball anymore just find some wire and connectors I like, cut them off the ball and join them together:-D

Sounds kind of like my toolbox full of cables.

I reckon the old cables in my box under the bench are breeding and at night they must be wrestling;)
Every time I go to the box there are more cables and the tangled mass is always bigger :(
It is one of life's mysteries :confused

This is where my job comes in handy...I am SO ridiculously anal about keeping cords straight, I don't think I've ever put something away without coiling it and wrapping it with a twist-tie.

My jewelry box, on the other hand... LOL

A rather Gordian Knot solution, wouldn't you say? :cool

Haha knot theme and it makes sense, brilliant:-D

    EDIT

I'll come clean too, had no idea what a gordian knot solution was.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordian_Knot

In response to the legend though, I would have used an even more gordian knot solution and cut a finger off for every second the guy who made the knot took to untie it, I think that solution is called the Joe Pescie solution though:-D

Does no one study history? Sheesh.

I too have the big... okay, technically it's a box though it also contains several bags each with it's own knotted ball of cords, all wrapped up in an outer layer of cords and possibly also contains Jimmy Hoffa and the Torpedo Bombers.
