    Hello all,
I'm a grad student working on analyzing bird vocals, and one of the things I'm working on right now is editing out background noise from the actual vocal sample. I've been using Raven Lite (from Cornell) and WavePad software. One of the problems I am having is that some of the really noisy samples (with a lot of background noise) are not coming out right when I try to edit the noise out. Does anyone know of any other kind of software out there that can filter through a sound sample or software with really good noise editing capabilites? Or does anyone know of any other forums that deal more with sound software? Thanks for your time!

    Hello, Birdgirl, sounds interesting project.

Difficult to advise without seeing a sample. I find Wavelab from Steinberg very good.

You have no private message contact. If you send me a pm with an email address, I can let you have one at StudioT to send a sample to. You can't really send a large enough file through the pm system.

If required I can find out what the RSPB and BBC use to do this job.
