sound and network not working

as some of you know what happen to my computer friday i had to put in this Abit KV-80 mobo and sempron 3100. Well i just got done downloading all the drivers from abit and my sound is not working. everything says it is alright but i am getting nothing out my 10inch boss Riot speakers or subwoofer i even tried headphones and still get nothing does anyone know of anything i can try?

also before i installed the driver for the network i seen the light on the network port was flashing afew times then go off then come back on and do it again and i thought nothing of it but i just installed its driver and now i see what it is doing it is saying my network is connected then it says a network cable is unplugged. I am using a cross over cable to connected to my backup rig.

If this mother board had more then 2 PCI slots i would say no problem but one is already being used by my modem and i don't want to put a card in the slot next to the video card. i don't think its a diver problem i think its hardware. What about y'all? if i can just get one working i will just throw a sound or network card in it and say the hell with it heres the page i got my drivers from

on-board sound is realtek AC'97 audio for VIA audio controller

and network is VIA networking Velocity-family Giga-bit Ethernet Adapter

fixed the network problem turns out what happen friday also took out my network card in my backup rig so it was causing problems when my main was trying to connect to it. still got a sound problem. I don't want to put in my old sound card because it will be a step down but if i cant get the onboard fixed i will have too.

What runs cooler a dial up modem or a sound card?
