Sound and other issues with Skype and Firefox

My apologies for reposting, but I think I may have had this posted in the wrong area, so I'm trying it again. I hope somebody can help!

My family is scattered around the country (and actually the world right now) and we have been talking a lot via Skype. When I talk to my sister, we don't have any difficulties, but when I talk to my dad, it will be fine for a while and then all of a sudden, the sound just cuts out completely. He can hear me, but I can't hear him at all. I used to have problems with my old, slow computer where the sound would break up and be choppy, but this is something else entirely. I can't hear him type, talk, or anything - it's just 100% silent for me, but he can always hear me. As I said, it only does this when I talk to him. He also said he never has issues when talking to other people. So, I had no idea whose end it was on until just the other day when I realized my sound wasn't working at all for anything on Firefox. It seems like my sound was not working on Firefox, but was fine on Internet Explorer. Re-starting seemed to fix it, but this isn't the first thing that has been not working for me on Firefox that was on my old computer. For example, I frequent an online chat and when I try and chat in Firefox, I frequently have to reload the page myself, because it's not updating on its own, but it will in IE. Any thoughts?

Ok, here is what I've done and you can tell me if it made any sense. I tried talking to my dad with no browser windows open. I had the same problem. I even tried making IE my default browser, just in case that did anything. I tried making a new profile on Firefox. I had the same problems in Skype and the same problems I've had on other sites. I then completely wiped Firefox from my computer and did a clean install of it, but I am still having the exact same difficulties. I just got off Skype with my dad, and it was the same old issues - nothing has changed. I haven't been able to call anyone else via Skype so far. The only other person I have pretty much been talking to using Skype is my sister and she won't be available via Skype for the next couple of weeks, as she is traveling around Ecuador (lucky woman!).

Anyway, I don't know if it is worth noting or not, but I have never had any problems when I've done conference calling via Skype. Like, my dad, sister, and I have talked together before and I never have issues when we do that.

Also, I checked the error message that Skype gave me last time it crashed, so I am attaching that file as well as the error window that I got in case those help shed any light on the situation. There was something that popped up that I wanted to copy and paste, but it wasn't letting me. I can try and screen shot that or something next time if this doesn't help.
