Sound and video out of sync in Vampire The Masquerade- Bloodlines

I bought this game over a year ago but the computer I had at the time was too slow to run it. I've finally bought an new computer with more than enough speed but it still isn't running properly.
When I first open it up to the character selection section the background music skips a little, like a dirty CD. When the first video sequence starts running, the sound is out of sync, and then finally starts sounding like it's being put through a delay effect.
I suspect that maybe my video driver is incompatible but I don't know how to find out. I don't even know how to find out what my video driver is.
If it is my driver that's incompatible, is there any way can still play the game?

 

Sounds like you are on the right track with your diagnosis. I presume you are right in thinking that your PC is more than capable of running the game as well, although the game does use the Halflife 2 engine which is quite demanding. Could you give a list of your PC's spec so I can look into it? On the other hand, you could download a free utility like Belarc Advisor or HWINFO32 (google for them) and this will tell you what video card / driver you have. From there we will be able to find you the latest drivers or find any incompatabilities.
