Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS isue

Hello, I have looked for an answer every place and had no luck. I'm working with a dell Dimension E510 desktop PC with all original specs and have an issue with the sound blaster Audigy 2SZ. I've tried everything up to and including restoring the system back to factory defaults using the restore discs provided. I know in fact that the sound card does work however, at best I've gotten the sound card to work with poor quality audio and high pitch squeals at start up. I have the driver disc and have also used the latest drivers from the internet but am constantly running into an issue with installation stating 'could not start hardware'. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried putting the card in another PC to see if it works? Poor sound and high pitch squeals could be a hardware problem. I had the same card and it burned out after about two years. My brother also had one that went bad..

 

I'll give that a try, In the meantime more suggestions are welcome.
