    Hello,
I have an Soundblaster Audigy SE. It used to work perfectly, but I reformatted and reinstalled Windows and now it's not working, and I have tried reinstalling drivers, installing new drivers, etc.

When my microphone is plugged into the soundcard, there is a terrible screeching sound; extremely high pitched and very loud. It started when I installed BF2 and it did the initial microphone test. I uninstalled BF2 to see if that changed anything, and it did not. Also, it is not the microphone because my microphone works on my roomate's computer.

Also, on a side note, when I previously had my soundcard installed the EAX console replaced the default volume icon in the taskbar, now the EAX console isnt even in the taskbar. How do I get it back up?

    Thanks

have you tried reseating the card? (pulling it out of the pci slot and putting it back in)
also go into device manager (right click on my computer, then hardware tab, and device manager) and see if the your pc is recognizing it.

Ok I solved my problem, and I'll post it here for anyone who has this problem. I have Audigy 2 SE, not Audigy SE, and there are no downloads for the Audigy 2 SE from the creative site, so apparently all I can use at the moment is the disc that came with it (which only supports EAX 3.0 unfortunately)

If anyone has an Audigy 2 SE and DOES know about any driver updates please do tell :)

i don't know this for sure, but according to the details of the download for audigy 2, it includes drivers for the whole audigy 2 series:

This download contains an improved version of the drivers found on the Sound Blaster Audigy®, Audigy 2 series, and Audigy 4 series installation CDs. It also supports Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition.
