What sound device were you using before you installed the new card? I would think getting the new card to work would be what you really want. Otherwise, what was the point of buying it?

Since you have integrated sound, you may need to access your BIOS settings and disable onboard sound before you can use your sound card. Conversely, if you want to revert back to onboard sound, check your BIOS settings to verify it's enabled.

did you uninstall the old onboard soundcard's driver before installing the new card? also check in the BIOS as usafveteran said
