Sound Card Help

    I had a major virus on my computer and my friend re-installed windows.
    only problem is my sound card won't work now
    i went into devices, uninstalled and re-installed with my drivers disk
    still doesn't work
    it's a c-media ac97 sound card and i'm running windows XP professional

    Did you re-install the Chipset/Motherboard drivers when you re-installed XP? if not do so, then try your driver disk again.

    You may have some luck if you know your PC manufacturer and the PC is an OEM per-build as in DELL, HP etc, their websites have drivers listed for Make and Model number of the PC.

    If its not a pre-build then if you know the motherboard name and version, the makers will have the latest drivers for the motherboards onboard sound.

    If you need to find out your motherboard info then this free software will help, find those details...
