Please help! I had a power outage this morning while my computer was running in the Windows XP Professional account sign on page. When I restarted the computer after the power outage, the sound no longer works. I have tried everything to get it to work, to no avail.

The soundcard I have installed is the Creative SB Live! Value with Boston Acoustic BA-725 speakers. The system was working fine up until the power outage, and the funny thing is that if I switch the speakers from digital output only to another set of speakers plugged into the analog plug of the soundcard...they work fine! But the BA-725's don't work at all in any setup!

I have run the windows troubleshooter that gets me NOWHERE! (What a waste of time!). Also, in device manager, nothing is showing as a conflict, and properties says that the device is working properly. Please help!

If you need any other information from me, please post what you need and how to get it. Please be advised that I am a computer IDIOT, so go easy on me and try to explain everything step by step! Thanks for your help!

It sounds like your speakers are now history, You'll most likely have to buy new ones.

Im going to take a shot in the dark and say that it is your power supply for your speakers. ed

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did try taking the card out and reseating it. Didn't work either. The seems to be power to the speakers, as the lights are on on both the speakers and the sub woofer. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hey guys....just wanted to let you know....I unhooked everything from the speakers to the computer, and even unplugged the power supply to the speakers, and when I hooked them back up and turned the power on...the sound works again! I don't know what I did, but at least I don't have to buy new speakers! Thanks for all the help!:)
