sound card question

Hello, I am about to update my audio from onboard to a card. I am down to two choices X-FI extreme audio, or X-FI extreme music. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these and some suggestions. I listen to alot of music and watch video quite a bit. I don't play games so I am just looking for the best music experience. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

I bought myself an X-Fi XtremeMusic a few weeks ago and love it!

The sound quality is so much better then another 3rd party/onboard sound - you'll notice the quality difference!

In answer to your question, the XtremeMusic is a lot more expensive, the features it offers are vastly superior to the Audio one and has the standard game port connector on the back, this being the most noticeable difference from the two, as is the size.

The chip on the XtremeMusic out-performs the Audio, thus giving better quality (in my opinion when I compared the two, I was in your position) and you can tweak a lot more settings on it to your choice, whereas the Audio doesn't offer as much.

Basically, it's down to you at the end of the day - if you want to pay out more the XtremeMusic then go for it, if your budget doesn't stretch as far then go for the Audio. Either way, don't make my mistake by getting an OEM card - definitely get the retail version!
