Sound Driver Help.

Hi people,

I'm having trouble finding the right driver for my onboard sound, i'm not really fimiliar with chipsets/drivers but i've been looking around on the Forums here and someone had the same chipset (Intel(R) 845G/GE/GL/GV/PV chipset) as me so i downloaded those drivers from the Intel website already, just need the driver now.

I'll attach a Everest report, must note that it's in Dutch.

If falcons fix does not work for you try this driver as this is the one for your actual soundcard ....

remember to reboot after each install so that your system recognises the changes.

Thanks for drivers, but...

When i run the setup for the C-Media driver, the installation goes fine until it reaches the step "Checking if audio device is ready" or something like that.
Then the Windows Wizard comes up (New Hardware Found), and asks to search for drivers (wich i am installing at that moment) , wich i do not want. So i close the Windows Wizard, but after that the Driver Installation stalls at the step "Checking if audio device is ready", as if it's done, so i click exit, asks for reboot, after reboot.. no sound.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi,
in your device manager can you tell me what driver is listed in the sound/video and games controller and if there are any yellow ! or red X showing. you may have to download the driver again and save it to your desktop rather than run it. But first let me know what is showing in device manager to get to your device manager .... Start> right click Computer> Properties > hardware> device manager.

how did you get on with that Rar file ?? please let me know. Could you also let me know if your machine is a OEM branded like Dell/Asus/Sony etc... make and model and any serice tags/seriels will help alot.

Hi,

I think you misunderstood my story,
I unpacked the driver i downloaded from your link, but it stalls at a certain step because of Windows Wizard "Finding" the hardware.
I mean that in some way that Windows Wizard is inteferring with the installation of the CMedia Driver.

Also the .rar (i assume Falconattack's file) did not work at all.

This pc is self-built, i will also add a screenshot of the device manager (Also in dutch, sorry about this).

you must install this first follow the prompts during the install and reboot, then try installing the sound driver again.....

Hi,

I am sorry but this is not the problem, sorry for my lack of english grammar skills,
I'll try to explain with screenshots.

The problem is that i have all the stuff installed, EXCEPT the Sound Driver, it won't install because of this happening (see screenshots).

Is this normal and am i being inpatient or are these 2 inteferring?

This is a normal process.... allow the found new hardware wizard to run as this will allow your system to recognise the sound card, then when the wizard finishes, the cmedia sofware install will continue to run.

Hi,

I managed to install the drivers succesfully, i had to take out the Soundcard and place it back in, and when the Windows Wizard process came up, i had to manually select the device (i read this up from a guide, the installation stalls at 94% with most Cmedia devices)
