    Hi

Could you run the below and attach the log from Everest as this will give us some information on the PC make and model and what drivers we may need to allow you to gain audio back.

Before your audio went missing had you had any malware issues or any new software installed and if so what software?

    Hi,
Make/Model of your machine and any service tags that it has, the report that you have posted does not point us in the direction that we need, if at all possible run the program Everest that DavidGP asked you to run, this will give us the make of your motherboard and then will help us to find the correct solution to your issue.... We will also still want the make and model, all of this info will help to resolve the issue quicker.

    Hi craze_haze_71,

The correct drivers are available from here.....

    http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5KPL-AM/PS&p=1&s=22

select your OS (xp) then you need to install the latest chipset driver first (Version 9.1.1.1019 ) then reboot. then you need to install the audio driver (Version V51005904) then reboot as this will help your system recognise the changes.

Hi what browser are you using to download these files, Internet Explorer would be the best to use for these type of files.

try installing the chipset Version 9.1.1.1014 first then try installing the Audio Version 5.10.0.5821/6.0.1.58 .

if the chipset still fails don't worry about it, hopefully the audio will work.

What exactly is the make and model of your machine I am assuming that it is an Asus as that is what motherboard it has on board, can you give me the exact model and any service tags if there is any.

Please be patient as it can be a right pain in the preverbial searching for the correct solution, I wish they would create a "one size fits all" driver. But hangin there we will find a solution yet!!;).

don't worry we will get there in the end !! ;)

where do you usually plug your speakers in ?? is it in the I/O plate or one of the expansion slots ?? if it an expansion slot it will mean that you have a PCI sound card and you will need to open the tower case to find the make of it. This is usually the case with custom build machines, did you not get any install discs with your machine??

    Hi,
Ok, right now we need to download and install BUT DO NOT RUN YET !!!...

    Driver Sweeper...... http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html

Then download and 'SAVE' the chipset (Version 9.1.1.1019) and Audio (Version 5.10.0.5821) to your Desktop for easy access, from here.....

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5KPL-AM/PS&p=1&s=22 (you will need to select your OS.. XP)

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the Intel Chipset Driver and the Intel Audio Driver. Re-boot your computer into Safemode (f8 on boot), sign in as an Admin User.

Double Click on Driver Sweeper... you will see a list of options in the lefthand pane... please select the Intel Chipset and Intel Sound options > click 'Analyze' then > click 'Clean' (run this button twice to clean up any residual leftovers).

Re-boot into Windows and click out of any 'Found New Hardware' prompts, now you need to install the Intel Chipset Driver first, follow the prompts and re-boot, now you need to install the Intel Audio Driver, same as the chipset follow the prompts and re-boot, it is very important that you re-boot your machine each time as this allows for your system to recognise the changes that have been made.
