    Hi,

I have a real conundrum for the gurus out there. For a while I have been annoyed with this crackling sound from my loudspeakers, as if you jiggle a broken cord. The strange thing is that it happens in intervals of exactly 1 minute and lasts for maybe 3-4 seconds.

I changed the setting on the computer clock, but the crackling sound continued according to original schedule, as if to some external clock, with exactly 1 minute in between.

This has be completely baffled, anyone have any ideas?

Just tried with another laptop, and no problem, so the issue is with my regular desktop.

    Anyone?

If it is happening at fairly exact intervals, then it's a good possibility, it caused by an app running in the background or some device close to your PC or speakers. I would try shutting down, all apps, one by one, including your AV and Firewall (while unconnected to the Internet), and seeing if one of them is causing the problem.
If there is no devices running close to your PC, that may be causing the problem, then it may even be something further away, that sends out radio interference, like a CB' or Ham operator with a power mic.
I used to pick up a CB in my old neighborhood at times.
