sound is gone, please help

someone used AIM invader on me

and it crashed my AIM, then i was listening to music for about 10 minutes when my sound mysteriously stopped. i checked and the song was still playing, so i checked a video file and the wouldnt play audio either. i went through the troubleshooter on XP, including all sorts of checks to see whether or not my sound was muted, or if it was turned up high enough, i check that my speakers were plugged in, everything seemed like it should be working. i restarted, still have the problem, then i plugged in my headphones to see if it was a problem with the speakers, i didnt hear anything over the headphones either. i ran ad-aware and that wouldnt let me update the definition files until after i ran it, cleared out some crap frmo there, then ran it again. still no luck with the speakers, i really cant figure this out. maybe its some type of virus? please help, i have a hijackthis log file too in case you want to see that. please help me out here, i cannot live in silence!

 

ok, i clicked on "mute all" to mute all of my stuff, then when i unchecked it, it worked. sorry about that, anyone have any idea what the hell just happened to me?

(PS, moral of the story is WINDOWS SUCKS )

 

ok, sound went away again, i tried checking and unchecking mute all, this time it isnt working. please help
