sound is gone

CRAP i hate it when i cant figure out things myself! well, at least its a learning opportunity lol. So last night everything was running just fine and this morning when i turned the computer on the sound was gone, its just using the little onboard speaker and the beeps are KILLING me lol. Device manager shows a multimedia device uninstalled/inactive but when i try to reinstall the drivers it says no device is detected. Im running an audigy 2 for reference. I may just try a driver clean sweep but im lazy lol. any other ideas?
