I'm new here, so sorry if I may have missed where issues like this have been posted, but here's what I've got...I'm hoping someone here can provide some answers, as I've gotten nowhere.

I recently decided my computer needed some major cleaning, as it was running slower and slower and I had increasingly longer start-up and shut down times.

I did a system restore, afterwards I'd receive a message saying something about a bluetooth agent and a cpl file when I'd start up. Then, my computer would shut down shortly after. When it would shut down, it would take me to a blue screen with an error message (0x000000c2), indicating a driver issue. After going through a few things on the Microsoft site(I have XP Home Edition as my OS), I wound up downloading a program called "Registry Cure".

It wound up correcting issues I had and I no longer wound up with a blue screen displaying the 0x000000c2 error message. The program cleaned up a lot of garbage on my hard drive. On Tuesday I ran the program again to see if it would pick up anything else, mainly because I was still getting the bluetooth cpl file message. After running the program, which found no errors, I reinstalled my printer and card reader, all of which were installed before without any issues.

I restarted my computer after reinstalling the printer and card reader and as soon as it booted up, I noticed I had no sound. Now, I can still get sound from my speakers if I'm playing a saved audio or video file through win amp or windows media player, I just can't get any sounds from web pages, my system sounds are also disabled for some reason. No sound at start up or shut down and when pop up messages appear from windows, I have no sound for that either.

I've gone through device manager and it says everything is enabled and working properly, yet, when I go into the my control panel, it says I have "no audio device".

I have absolutely no idea what suddenly killed my system sound and my sound through web sites, but it's becoming incredibly annoying.

I'm on a Dell Dimension 8250 with Windows XP Home Edition.

If anyone has any advice or can help, please let me know.

    Thanks

    Download and install your chipset.
There are two audio drivers for for your Dell, ADI Integrated and SoundBlaster. If you know which you had before the problem, download and install it.
Chipset and audio can be found here:
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...D=DIM_PNT_P4_8250&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If you don't know your audio driver type:
You can go to to the Dell Support page and input your tag number. That should take you to your proper driver.

    OR
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.
