Sound issues with sp3 installed

I'm using an ASROCK AM2NF4G-SATA2 with an AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+

Not sure where to being, but, this week I finally get around to using Windows XP Home Edition sp2, update to sp3. In the midst of it I realize that with Realtek HD Audio installed my speakers, which are connected through the jack input in back, they'll work fine; but my Logitech usb headset will not.

If I go to Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio and change the default devices to Logitech USB then my headset will work, but speakers will not, and vice versa.

I've tried enabling HD Audio in BIOS, updating my BIOS (which I'm not sure helped anything and if it's most current update), setting Realtek HD Audio Manage to disable front jack detection, uninstalling Realtek HD drivers, updating the drivers for Realtek from the website and from my motherboard cd, I read that perhaps KB888111 may be an issue but if I leave that be and have Realtek drivers uninstalled then my headset will work, but not my speakers.

It's been an issue for the past week and I can't find any answers. My last resort will be to back up all my files and do a complete reformatting of all my disks and stick to Windows XP Home sp2. However I wonder if buying an independent sound card would fix all my problems as Audio has also been an issue with my computer when I reinstall Windows.

After uninstalling Realtek and trying installing again with nothing but mouse and keyboard plugged in.. it works fine now.
