    Hello everybody!

    Here I go again.
I feel helpless!, I have a HP pavilion 8674 D running on Windows 98 SE. Everything is working beautifully except for the audio, there is NO sound.
Here is what everest had to say about my devices:

Under device manager everything seems to be fine except for the riptide, it audio device, it doesn't have a question mark on it, it has an little yellow exclamation, I have tried a ton of drivers and none of them will work. I went to multimedia under control panel and under audio I can't even access show volume control on the taskbar, it is all greyed out!!
It was working fine until I did a win 98 SE clean install, so I don't think the audio card is damaged. I have uninstalled the card, check IRQ's, connections, and everything seems to be ok!
Here is what the audio/sound (it is a combo card) specifications are:

    Conexant
    Riptide (TM) RACC010
    D7400-12
    B88264 4
    9936 KOREA
    ARM

    Model# 90079
    Smart Modular Technologies.

I have downloaded a driver for this type of chipset.. same thing occurs, Am I losing it or what?, I need some help!
    Thanks!!

Did you do a restore from the HP disks or did you do a Win98 only installation.

You would probably have the easiest time geting the audio driver from HP though you could do a google search and perhaps find it elsewhere. You should be able to get it based in the model number of your computer at HP

I already did that, I have been trying for days, I have tried many drivers, nothing seems to work, Hp is help-less. Thanks anyway.

If you double click on the device with the yellow exclamation in the device manager what does it say for why it isn't working?

I figured it out.. I remove all the devices that were audio related and used some drivers I backed up.. Sorry to bug you, I was just frustrated. There was also an IRQ conflict, doh! I feel so dumb:eek:
    Thanks!!
