Browser? OS? All sites or just some? Give one link please to a site where you hear nothing.

I am having the same problem. Recently installed Registry Booster 2 and it may have caused the problem. I have tried to edit the registry with this file (msacm32.drv) as suggested in another thread, but that file is already in the registry

My sound problem is on any internet site that has a video file or sound file. The sound works fine on CD's and on WIndows Media Player and iTunes etc, but not internet feeds. I have tried deleting sound drivers and reinstalling, I checked the registry for the files as noted by others in other threads, still no luck. Time to throw this machine out and get a Mac
