Sound problems with k8v-mx

I have a problem with sound on my PC following a windows XP reinstall. I've downloaded drivers from ASUS (SoundMAX512015150) but when set up runs it stops and says 'driver not found please reboot'.

I've been trawling the web for about 2 days and can't fix it - can anyone help

That appears to be the proper audio driver for the board. Have you made sure the on-board sound is turned on in the BIOS? Should be, if it was before the re-install . . . but you never know.

 

I resolved all my 'Driver' issues from the ASUS 'support' area except the audio.

The reason is that my integrated audio is not a SoundMax one as was indicated on the Asus website; but rather is a Realtek audio device.
