Yes, yet another "Sound problems" thread.

My sounds aren't working the way they should. I would understand that the drivers won't work, but this is something weirder than that - the sound does work sometimes, but windows doesn't detect the card (integrated sound card)

Some music does work, but only through some games (i tried two different games.) Also, the sound FX are completely quiet. Any help with this?

Here is a thread about removing the malwares from my computer: Linky

Also, in the attachments I have a report from EVEREST home edition.

    Hi

Try the following and do first of all tell me what items have yellow ! marks by them in device manager?

Also make sure in Services (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services) that the Windows Audio service is Started and its Startup Type is Automatic.

Then install from this list of drivers for your PC HERE the Chipset and reboot, then install the Audio and LAN.

Then let us know how you get on.

You may also need to do the below, originally posted by muskesnipe in fooling XP in thinking its SP2 so you can install thr UAA driver again.

    Works now :)

I didn't even have to do anything else, just installing the chipset was enough... It solved EVERY single thing that was wrong!

    Thanks!:cool

    Hi

In XP open up in Control Panel click Sounds and Audio Devices and put a tick in the Place Volume Icon in taskbar and apply

Ok, now I lost my sound again. Also, it seems that I lost my drivers for my USB stick.
Before these problems started appearing my computer freezed twice right after booting.

And after logon my computer just stands still not opening any processes exept task manager. And there's more. My computer's start bar has the "Windows Classic" style on, but the start menu has the newer style.

I still think I forgot something to say.

    Hi

I would be suspecting you have malware again, are you still using uTorrent?

Try if you can a System Restore back to early yesterday when sound and USB where likely ok.

Can do this from Task Manager, just click File and New Task then type or paste this rstrui.exe and click OK

or try from Safe Mode (F8 at boot)

I tried to run a restore point, but the task manager said that something about rstrui couldn't be found.

    Hi

Try the full path in C:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe or try running System Restore in Safe Mode.

It said that system restore was turned off.

    Hi

Can you get into safe mode ok? if so then I would run the Malware Read and Run Me again and post a new thread in malware forum and attach logs.

Oh, now I remember the last one. The systems takes the boot programs somewhere else that the startup list on msconfig.

    Hi

Could you explain that in more detail please as I dont understand what your describing, please list the steps you used to get to whatever menu on msconfig (you where not managing the startup list of apps usning msconfig where you?) and even if you haev to post a screenshot then do so as may need to see what you are seeing.

One of those periods when need to be there!

    Sorry for bad description.

I do use msconfig to manage the startup list (because it starts so fast ;) )
I currently have the list quite empty, but Windows starts some programs that were there before, but aren't there anymore.

    I does not unterstant.

And I cannot connect to internet through wireless, it stucks on acquiring network address.

And, if I reconnect my ethernet cable, I must restart my computer so it could connect.:confused

    Hi

Using msconfig can lead to many issue as its not and never was ment to be a startup manager, its a troubleshooting app mainly and can cause boot errors if an application thats been disabled is uninstalled as it will leave orphaned entries behind, a write up here on same.

Use StartupCPL if you need to manage startups as it does not use msconfig.

Does this mean that you have entries in msconfig for applications that are not installed now? do describe a bit more and even post a screenshot of what you are seeing.

For sound do the things I mentioned in post #3

I still suspect malware again, so doing the Read and Run Me and posting new thread in malware forum is good course of action.

means I would need to be physically sitting infront of your PC to see whats going on, as doing this via a forum, I/we are reliant on you giving us as much info as possible so we can get a picture of whats happening.

Again, sorry for the bad description. I whipped up a pic of the normal using of task manager's process list (one entry isn't visible there, too small screen) and a pic from the msconfig's boot list. I had someday (after these problems) removed the "orphaned" entries from the startup list with CCleaner.

I also scanned with F-secure and Malwarebytes (full scan) with no results on first and some false positives on second. (I trust those false positives.)

Also, I have a second computer with some faulty drivers, would it be bad if I would post some logs from there? (it could cause some misunderstandings so I asked :p)
