Okay I'm at a major loss and at wits end here.

I'm running Windows XP, recently virus basically blew my computer so I had to do a System Restore.

So starting over and all I apparently have no sound anymore.

I've done just about everything i've been able to find and not a thing has worked.

It sees my sound card a Realtek AC'97, It apparently knows it's there.

My Sounds and Audio Devices says No Audio Device

I've gotten different errors depending on what I do, the main one i see is about Mixer Devices.

Now the thing being is the Realtek is seen and it has a location.

    The Device Manager lists
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture Devices
    Media Control Devices
    Realtek AC'97
    Video Codes

Now the odd thing being is only Realtek has a location.

All the others are unknown but says it's working properly.

I need some help to fix this please.

The computer brand and model would allow us to offer better help.

State what you tried so we don't keep posting things you've done.

Well it's an HP I know that much what model not sure where would I be able to find it.

As for what I've done I've googled it and well it pops up a lot and I've ran through quite a bit of those there and no luck.

So I figure at this point now just start from the beginning and work my way out again maybe it was something back so far that wasn't done.

My HP computers have the model on the computer case. On the desktop it is on the front and on the laptop it is on the right side close to the function keys.

    still too vague.

The only thing on the front really is HP Pavilion a720n

Beyond that nothing is on it

I've tried Trouble shooting, fixing it via Microsoft fix it, and a few things around those.

Everything thus far has done nothing.

    Hi

All your drivers are HERE for the A720n HP PC you have, and from this list, install the Chipset driver first from HERE, then reboot (reboot is crucial as it allows any other devices such as audio, USB, LAN to be recognised by Windows, if you dont reboot, the Chipset will nto be installed fully)

Once rebooted, then if your XP service pack is not SP3 (and is SP1 or SP2) then you will need to install the UAA HD Audio driver from Microsoft HERE, then install the Audio driver from HP HERE, then reboot and check audio.

So I have SP3, and I did all of that but still no icon and no sound.
