sound problems

my music on my computer will play for a little while and then it will just cut off out of nowhere.when i restart the computer my music will still play.but when its like halfway thru the song the sound would cut off again.It also happens when i insert cd's in my computer and try 2 play music from them.I really dont know whats wrong with my sound.I scan for viruses using Norton and it found none.can somebody please help me figure out whats wrong with my sound?

 

What music player are you using?
Have you tried reinstalling your sound drivers?

 

Lets try this:

1. Right-click My Computer
2. Select 'Manage'
3. Select 'Device Manager'
4. Expand (if necessary) 'Sound, Video And Game Controllers'

Here you will see a listing of the audio devices on your machine. Any yellow exclamation marks or red xs indicate that there is a problem with that device. Double-clicking it will give more information.

If there are neither, we can try re-installing the device. To do so, please do the following:

1. Right-click the Audio Controller
2. Select 'Uninstall'
3. Restart the machine.

When windows re-loads, it will try to re-install the drivers for the device. When it is complete, follow the above 4 steps again to verify that it has installed correctly. Post back when you are done.

this did not work at all.my sound played a little songer but its still doin the same thing it was doin before.
