Sound question...new computer...old speaker system.

Hello,
I recently built a new computer system using the specs listed below. My question is, with my new motherboard, it has 7.1 Channel HD Audio, which sounds like something good to me (I'm a newbie, so I don't know a whole lot about computers!). The problem is, I really liked the sound of my old Boston Acoustic BA 735 speaker system...it really kicks some bass! Anyway, the old speakers are digital so I had to install my old Creative SB Live Value card to make the speakers work. With some tweaking and adjusting, the speakers do in fact work and sound great, too. However, I'm thinking that I may be missing out on something with the new 7.1 High Definition audio. Can anyone clue me in to whether I should buy a new speaker system, and which one for relatively cheap, or is it really just a waste of money? Thanks in advance for your input! i reakon if you have sweet speakers stick with them.
unles you want to do heaps of gaming or watching movies where directional sound is important to you.

its a matter of taste really.

youd look at paying a heap for a really good 7 channel sound system
