sound settings changeing

hello i have an anoying problom my sound settings in windows keeps changing from 5.1 to 2 speaker i think it might be softwar or games i play that do it by software i mean stuff i bought not downloaded it could be neverwinter nights doing it but i think something els might be doing it too.

pc is a dell dimension 8400 over 1 gig sound card is creative sound blaster live 24 bit
driver version 5.12.1.512
driver date 12/07/2005

is there away to stop it from changing out of 5.1? thanks


ps i do have other sound card settings from sound blaster that dont change but the windows settings over rule them i guess.

 

I would check your game configurations and see if there are options there to change speaker types. Maybe, it is set at 2 speakers by default.
Also run one of the suspected apps or games at a time and then re-check your sound settings, until you figure out which one is doing it.
I would think that if SoundBlaster is set as your default audio, Windows shouldn't be over-riding it.

i just double checked and it was nevewrwinter nights changing my settings when the game closed i had to change the sounds option in the game to 5.1 i am a retard for not thinkin of that !! thank you for your help issue resolved duuuuuu lmao thanx
