Can someone please help me.. I'm struggling like hell. It's like this I want to record something on my computer. It is a song being played by Windows Media Player. I've tried SO MANY PROGRAMS like Power Audio Recorder, Total Recorder, Aerial Sound Recorder, Audicity, Free Sound Recorder, Advanced Audio Recorder and lots more...

The problem I think I have is that none of those above programs would let me select my speakers as a input device. Like I've tried the Microsoft Sound Mapper, Line-in, Digital Line-in, but all after I'm done recording all I hear is "nothing", and I don't want to record off my microphone at all. Like I don't think its the programs fault and I think it's mine.

I just want to record what ever sound comes out of my speakers is there a program or some way I can do that? Thanks.

 

Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and download and install Audacity 1.2.6 or 1.3.5 Beta.

Play the songs you want with the Audacity recorder running and they will be recorded to your computer. Make sure that the input source -- the pull down to the right of the mic setting at the top of the page -- is set to "Stereo Mix".

Everything that comes out of your sound card will be recorded. I use it to record a talk show during the day that I then listen to in the evening. The Beta version is the one I use as it has a record timer that allows me to record a set number of minutes, hours, or days.
