Ok i have a sound blaster live model CT4830 and Serial # M4830040218794
(if that helps ) Ok prob is it wont play any sound and in volum control the Mute all check thing flashes randomly so im gessing its muted somehow PLZ help

 

Its the drivers windows used when I first put it in ..........

 

I don't know if this will help or not since I have an older computer and older version of SoundBlaster, but I had to disable my sound chip to get it to work.

 

Disable the sound chip ya mean the onbord sound ??

 

Seems to me you should update your drivers.

 

And "try in safe mode?"

I think, when I start up it says something like (maybe onboard inserted here) sound chip disabled click something in BIOS...blah, blah

If you try it and it doesn't work, you can turn it back on, can't you?

Nope same thing w/ onbord off ............... I Try to play somthing in winamp and every thing gets reeeallly slloowww......then winamp crashes and i cant close it so i have to end task it .....

 

Iv had onbord on since i had this computer. The other day my friend gave me the live and said he couldent get it to work ether so i thought its worth a try.....the live has a game port I need for my wheel...but id likt to have the live 4 sound to if posable...

 

This might not help but it may be xp. I had a live 5.1 i realize yours is a differnt model but the same thing happened. First it couldnt read it then after editing the registry it finally saw the card. Then when i went to volume control and the mute was flashing and i was getting sound sometimes not all the time and if i did it was from the right rear channel only. I contacted creative about the card and didnt get any help. So i gave up and just left the card in but disabled the sound. About a month ago i downgraded from xp to windows 2000 pro major system improvement and the sound card works perfectly. It may not be windows xp safe, i know xp has a issue with some cards for the driver signing and the fact it wasnt tested for xp. I honestly dont know what to say if its xp it may not even work.
