SP2 compatibility problem: NOTHING on comp but win xp

I was hoping that someone could explain to me, how SP2 can have compatibility
issues when the ONLY thing on there is Windows XP SP1, NOTHING ELSE!!!!

It works great until I install SP2, then it crashes and reboots repeatedy!!
Sometimes I get the BSOD and sometimes not. One of the BSOD's told me the
NTFS file system was corrupt. This is about the third or fourth time in the
last three days that I have had to reinstall from the XP disk.

I recently updated my mobo and cpu to an abit K7v-V w/ a sempron 3000, so
naturally when I did that I did a repair install. That being the case, I had
to reinstall SP2. Forgot to turn the Norton off. Did a new clean install,
Installed SP2, and it screwed up again. and ofcourse it couldn't be as
simple as doing a system restore!! Because IF I could get into safe mode
then the system restore is just as unstable as anything else. To make a long
story short....The only thing that gets the machine back in order is a new
clean install. It runs great until I install SP2, and I had SP2 before I
chose to upgrade my comp, and it worked great with everything on the
comp.(about 20gig worth)

I bet you didn't check to see if the drivers you installed were SP2 compatible, did you

 

I haven't installed any drivers...everything is in working order with the drivers that XP SP1 installed automatically. Could that still pose a problem?
