    Hello,
Shadow Puter Dude has been helping me in the Malware Forum for weeks. My system is finally clean. But now I'm having various other problems that Shadows said are not Malware related. He suggested I post a new thread here.
    Here are my problems:
When I tried to back up my system prior to installing updates and SP2 I got an error message, Error while creating volume shadow copy 800423f4.

I have SP2 on disk from Microsoft and I downloaded it too and tried to install but about half way through I get an error message saying install and my only option is to close.

My computer is acting funky, very slow starting programs and stalling alot.

All I want to do is install all the updates my system needs and getting it running well again so my husband and I can surf the WWW and use Microsoft programs. I tried to use Powerpoint but it was very slow too and hung up.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't log onto MajorGeeks.com from my home computer. I get another error saying "Can't open a connection to the MySQL database server" when I type in www.majorgeeks.com That just started happeing this morning after SP2 install failed. I have to check the forum from my work computer.
    HELP!!!!
My running Win XP Pro with XP Pro Office.
    Thanks.

    Hmmm...
The only time that I've encountered errors on an install is when the CMOS battery was dying on me. How old is your hardware?

For the $5 to replace this battery, it may be worthwhile just to eliminate it as a possible suspect.

You could also attempt a system restore to before your SP2 install for the time being to try to fix some of the resulting problems.

What about the other errors? Any ideas?

My hardware is 4 years old. I have no idea how to install a CMOS battery. I'll try the system restore first.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I was finally able to update to SP2, Horray!! After that I added all critcial updates. I am completely up to date. Now however I'm having difficulty with my Office XP programs. I think I have SP3 installed for my Office XP. Outlook will not send and receive anymore. Powerpoint is slow. Things are generally slow again. I ran Ad-Aware an only found 2 negibles, deleted them. I tried to reinstall Office XP but before it was completely dne install I got the message that I had to restart my computer for it to take effect. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
