    Hi
I installed SP2 on XP Home Edition (with SP1) using a CD from microsoft - installer finished ok, but on restart windows wouldn't load.
After reset I got options - safe mode / command / restore / etc, but none worked.
So I reloaded to factory state and tried again - same result.

    HELP ANYONE!!! :) :) :)

The list of issues with sp2 goes on. Home edition hu?

Sp2 for windows xp pro or home?
Updated all updates before updating to sp2?
Jeeze who knows.. I run a 600 user network and have held out deploying this crazy sp.

How large is the SP2 on CD? If it's the full service pack (around 270MB) then my suggestion is to slipstream it onto your existing WinXP install CD. That way, when you reload the computer, it'll already have SP2 installed. Easy to follow instructions can be found here:

If I can do it, just about anybody should be able to.

    Really?

I haven't had any problems with sp2. I've had a few problems with Norton 2005 since I installed them both at the same time, but in the end it all turned out to be Norton problems and not sp2 problems.

Can't say I see that huge of a difference. It has a better firewall, so after I've installed it, I can go online, I don't have to install Norton first as I did before. And there are some features that are best turned off...

I'm not sure I would recommend installing it unless you reinstall the OS though, as Wavetar said, slipstream is great, I think you avoid some problem that way.
