Turn off auotmatic restart and see what the error is, would be a good start.

Right Click My Computer >Properties >Advanced >Startup and Recovery settings.

Under System Failure, uncheck automatically restart.

Then get the error and post back everything it said.

    Oh!

Well, check your C:\windows\minidump folder and see if there are files that correspond with the date of the reboots and when you installed SP2.

    Post back :)

    Doh.

Well, I think the thing to keep in mind at this point is if SafeMode works, and normal does not, it has to be third party application or a driver.

SP2 has been known in testing to utterly break some drivers and applications.

    Are you using McAfee products?

    Hmmm, well-

I would guess before you retry SP2, temporarily uninstall ez armor, and the ups software.

If you decide to try Sp2 again, I would say instead of just trying to get into Safe Mode, also try disablign third party services in msconfig, and startup items, then trying to boot.

I would also disable all nonessential hardware devices in Device Manager (those not needed to boot, that includes video card) and see if you can boot to normal mode.

If you can with either or both aof the above methods, then you should be able to narrow down the cause.
