Missing the popup message jarcher mate?

while i'm still awake.. if you have dsl/cable internet.. try the network install as its the full download of SP2 but will save you having to get it from WU ( IIRC auto update of SP2 is still rationed at present so wont always download and install when it pops up )

    Network Install of SP2 ( 270mb-ish )

but if you can give us the missing info then we should be able to help.

    sorry, like I said I typed an a**load and lost it. . . .

and if anyone can help me with my scrolling being so damn jumpy that would be good too

and I have tried the network install (dsl)

I onpend my security centre and ot said that the "security center" services are not running
there are no services that I can find for it
and being the they are in quotes it makes me think that the service goes by another name, though I cannot find it

as I mentioned earlier the downloads of SP2 as far as I know are still rationed out and that is a message you could recieve.

the security center service is just called Security Center, as to the network install version do you still have it downloaded? if so turn off Auto Updates and try installing that version again.

jumpy mouse... do you have a USB mouse.. if so I get that now and again, I just unplug it clean the contacts on the mouse USB cable and plug it in again.. weird but works for me.

Did you go here to make sure it was "uninstalled" correctly - or to see if you need to do anything else first before trying to re-install:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=875350

Also -- this might show you something that has been affected by the uninstallation: It's called : How to help protect your computer if you decide to remove Windows XP Service Pack 2 -- since you've removed it, you still might want to look at what needed to be (or needs to be) PROTECTED

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;878454&Product=windowsxpsp2

Sorry if this isn't where you're going with your problem.
