My SP2 to SP3 installation failed. It says Access Denied. For the mean time i dont want to upgrade.

When i checked my drive C it created this folder consuming 300mb

    http://i49.tinypic.com/33ab495.jpg

    It contains the i386 folder..

Is this my old i386 folder? just moved by the failed SP3 installation?

I am now scanning with Malwarebytes.. My scan usually takes 40 mins.. now its almost 1 hour.

after i clicked the sp3 installer downloaded from microsoft website (300mb) it extracted 1GB file on my system..

Can you restore and try again? Maybe you can download SP3 rather than online install?

I already have it downloaded here in my PC

    From this
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24

But i already changed my mind. I just want to clean what is left and to move what should be moved back..

I hope someone could help me.

    I found out that there is a i386 folder on C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386

should i move all the content there? or should i delete the created folder?

I just need to know if it was just a duplicate or moved files or something that should be deleted..

    Thanks in advance

I am always nervous about deleting and you need SP3 for security. The folder with the long name of letters and numbers should be the temp files.

As I said, it SHOULD be ok to delete but I am never comfortable making promises on deleting stuff.

If you want a guarantee buy a toaster ;) I don't know how many ways I can say it. You are essentially asking us to guess what folder is on your computer, how it got there and if it is safe to delete. Not going to happen. Maybe a program like Wise Disk Cleaner would decide if it can be removed.

    Good luck.
