    Heya,
I installed Service Pack 2 on my computer this weekend and it's giving me some problems:

    1) I use XP and when I click on "Turn off computer" in the start menu it takes like 10 minutes to bring up the little box where I can click "Turn Off". It wasn't doing anything like this before...

    2) The other thing is that dang security center. It won't leave me alone! It keeps telling me that I don't have any virus protection software when in fact I do and it's one they reccommend. Any way to turn this off?

Alrighty, any help would be appreciated as always. Thanks!

Hi, THey can be turned off through the icon in the Control Panel. You need to check the items at the bottom of the page as when first looking at it it seemed my firewall was on yet I had already turned it off. So go through the 3 items and change them as you wish. If your anti virus is not a new version the Security Shield might not recognise it and the same applies to the firewalls.

I would like to inquire (post) a question but have not as yet sorted out how it is done. I recently installed SP2 and my DSL provider (Qwest) now tells me that because of SP2 my LAN5 is running at 10% of capacity. MS ignores my pleas for support. Can you help?

OK. Now I see how it works. Anybody out there have any idea what I have to do to get my DSL back up to 100% after installing SP2?

HI, Start a separate topic with your question rather than tack it on to this one. If it is new more people will look at your problem

HI, THat is one answer to our porblem but there must be some way around it other than uninstalling SP2 and even then it might not cure your problems. Microsoft has a list of programs that get messed up by SP2 have a look at that and see if you are running any. If you are then you have to decide whether to delete them or get rid of SP2.

I have read news articles which state that if your computer is already behind a firewall and anti virus progs then SP2 is not a neccessity. Mine seem to be running alright with it but I have to keep my fingers crossed. My broadband played up over weekend but it seems right again now. Kept telling me there was a wire loose.
