Currebtly running a dell dimesiom with a 30 gig hd an 512 ram, okay I currently have windows XP w/sp2. Now fo last couple of weeks I've been trying to get the SP3 update for my computer and CANNOT do it.. Besides being frustrating... I currently got rid of Spybot, AdWare -se, because I hearde that they might be the cause of it... Nope trying again, Can't get the Microsoft workaround to work on it, I mean particular the third one.. Something about the SubinACL.*** will not run... Because of something about being in safe mode or windows installer is corrupt or missing?? Then updated Windows Installer to 4.5 from 3.1... Still cannot get That programs to ruin for the registry access to work....

Anybody else got any ideas cause I'm out of them...

this is a description of what SubinACL is from the microsoft web site "SubInACL is a command-line tool that enables administrators to obtain security information about files, registry keys, and services, and transfer this information from user to user, from local or global group to group, and from domain to domain. For example, if a user has moved from one domain (DomainA) to another (DomainB), the administrator can replace DomainA\User with DomainB\User in the security information for the user's files. This gives the user access to the same files from the new domain." you can download this tool from here " http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...56-D8FE-4A91-93CF-ED6985E3927B&displaylang=en " you have not stated whether you are trying to manually install or auto install the sp3 update could you be more descriptive please

nightfirer i am presuming that this is an auto update issue have you tried this firstly switch off the auto update then go into my computer click on c drive go into the windows folder locate and open the software distribution folder then open the download folder and delete everything in it close to desk top run ccleaner and scan for issues then cleaner once finished switch back on auto update and let the auto update do the rest its worth a try if you already haven't

Okay Cat_w_9_lives I somewhat figured it out with Microsoft help but there tech help was tht great.. A point being made that in Symantec ( aka Norton ) locks up trhe system in Norton systemworks but because of that and Microsoft update for SP3 affecting one that is protected by Systemworks , The problem I now have found is that niether Norton or Microsoft can help me in finding the correct registry Key to fix.. Meaning I may just have to totally uninstall Norton Systemworks and The Norton Goback which came with the program... To get SP3 work.. Unfortunately I cannot do that at this time because Microsoft recommended doing a workaround again... To be honest Cat I really do appreciate the help u gave me... Thank you.. I'm thinking I won't do the update unitll microsoft gets it where it can work for me....
