SP3 question?

    I've noticed that MG is offering the download of XP Service Pack 3. I went to Microsoft's website and noticed that they have little info about SP3. In fact, nothing about when they're officially releasing this patch. My question is this: Is this an official release of SP3 or is this some illegal copy? (I know that MG doesn't condone that)
    So what gives? Should I download this file????

    Is this an official release of SP3 ?

    Yes it is.

    Here the date for release.

    * April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
    * April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
    * April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
    * June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates

    Is there any difference between the XP SP 3 download posted on Major Geeks on April 28th, compared to the one I downloaded and installed days earlier. See my earlier post here. I'm :confused :confused Bazza

    I had explained that version you had was final version earlier this week? here in dlb's long thread on this subject http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=158040 and this post in particular http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1145362&postcount=48


    The difference in what many had read is that the earlier release to users of MSDN and TechNet was at a size of 544mb compaired to the Majorgeeks download of 316mb, size difference is due to the MSDN/TechNet version ISO not just having the main SP3 installer file, but all of the other add-ons that come with Service Pack CD releases ( highlighted in post #25 in dlb's thread ).
