Hey guys, i'm having some problems with SP3 RC2. Noticed yesterday that the yellow windows update shield was on the task bar and sure enough its the SP3 update. I was pretty excited so i went ahead and did the update.

Update took about 15-20 min....thought it was normal, everything was fine.....smooth update. Update screen then had me reboot the computer. Rebooted, and everything seemed fine, then the XP load screen comes up and all of a sudden a blue screen flashes and then reboots automatically. tried to reboot a couple of times, same old situation. The problem was recognized by my computer......black screen poped up with the choices of safe mode......last good config. and normal......it recognized that a recent software change has occurred, and that something was wrong, just didn't say what?

I have temporarily solved the problem, went into safe mode and uninstalled SP3 and everything came back to normal. But i would like the update it to sp3!!! ha

I tried the update again....nothing...same problem.

When the blue screen flashes at boot up after i install SP3, there are words on the screen, it just flashes so fast i can't see them! so maybe that will tell me the problem???? not sure

I've been looking forward to the update....just frustrating that its not working. I'll run my virus scans and see if anything is up....ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!! thx guys!!!!

Its likely that an old driver or some software will have been not compatible with XP SP3, as SP3 adds some new wifi and bluetooth updates, its possible if this is a wireless pc, that those caused this issue with the drivers.

But most issues with SPs are from security software thats either old and not updated anymore or versions that dont take into account the new core kernel updates.

So update as much as you can to latest versions.

If you had a BSOD, did you get its error code? this may help trace this issue.

You still may get the same issue once XPSP3 goes RTM, so as your leaving it for a while to install again, I would likely just make sure all your software and drivers are upto date.
