    Is it worth installing yet?

Not yet. I've seen enough threads about SP3 going wrong in here. Give it 3-6 months.

    Hi

Judging by your signature line you have already have it installed?

Been some issues with the likes of HP pcs that are AMD CPU based but updates have been issued to clear that up http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ex?softwareitem=pv-60484-2&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en which this was main cause for user having issues.

Others are making sure your AV is upto date before installing SP3 for XP, to be honest I would update any application to latest version especially your security ones before installing.

And main one is make sure your PC is malware free....... was same major issue with non-installing SP2 for XP.

Many users have had great sucess in installing XP Sp3 but in true fashion on the internet you will only really get the negative stories of a bad install.

I agree with pclover WAY to soon to install SP3. I have disabled automatic updates on all my PC's until the bugs get ( if ever ) worked out. Same reason I'm waiting on AVG 8.0.

Installed SP3...and to my surprize...no problems. Now if AVG 8.xx will come around things will be ok.

SP3 came preinstalled on an OEM disk I purchased for a reinstall of XP Home. Been over 2 months and not a single problem, much less a Blue Screen.

Think from the inital start date of this thread in June, that now 6 months nearly down the line, the main issue of the HP one is removed and in work we did all 5 of the Dells in my office with SP3 and no issues at all.

Have a malware free PC and double check your security software is upto date and it should go fine.

You might be right on that. But my experinces have taught that is not always the case.
