We all want to be rid of unwanted mail.
I have read offers that encrypt, block etc but do not know the best way to stop spam to an email address I would like to keep.
Is there a valid way to stop spam?
Free is better but low cost would be worth it.
I thought I would ask here before I signed up only to find more spam.

    Hi Peter

What email service do you use as most block spam pretty well these days?
What email application are you using, as is it online or application based?

The alternative is to use the filtering system of most email services to add key words to block or right click and add to Blocked Senders List a email that's spam that got through the filter.

Spambully was or is good for Outlook or Outlook Express clients but as you have Windows 7 you don't have Outlook Express so this may not be good for you.

It's simple, get a gmail address. Spam gone.

My isp is Comcast and I have one address there- it can block and is ok. I also have two .live addresses and one of these is targeted. There is a provision to "sweep" and "block" but there are so many servers they just keep coming. I changed an addres once before due to excessive spam but will try to wait this one out by "bocling". Is it best to click on unsubscribe or is that just encouraging more trouble? Some say click here to unsubscribe and you will be ok in 7-10 days. I am leery.

    I have trouble with Gmail.
Example, I created a folder called doctor. i then "moved" the contents of an email from that person to that new folder.
When I clicked delete to the recent email it also deleted the contents of the doctor folder to which I had sent the email. My live accounts work independently.
However, your suggestion is worth a second try, and thank you.

I recommend you try again peter. That is not how gmail behaves.

Yup, be leery, never unsubscribe, just put them into junk. I have several e-mail addy's, one is for forum sign ups, another for commercial sites, one for dubious sites, then I have my private addy's which hardly anyone gets as that's my ISP mailboxes, I believe I'm up to 8 or so now IIRC, as to gMail, I love it! I may have gotten one spam a year since its beginning beta days if that.

I agree about using different addresses. I too have a forum one, a friends one and a family one.
I am about to open a Gmail account b/c everyone raves about it and one bad experience is not a decent guage.
Thank you all for the comments.
