I installed the Spamihilator on my Netscape email -- uninstalled it, and now the emmail won't contact the server. How do I fix this??
    Thanks!

Typically when you install Spamihilator it changes your user name and incoming mail server address in your email program.

When you uninstalled it, it probably didnt change the values back to the original settings.

If you can go into your email program, go into your account settings and write down the user name it is currently using and post it here I may be able to help you out. Please do not post your password :) If you are unconfortable in posting the info here, you can email it to me.

Thanks for your help. I haven't supplied the info for private messages -- there are some questions I don't understand (!) - my email is wfulton@adelphia.net -- let me know your email, and I'll follow your instructions. Thanks for your help!

    no problem :)

To be able to walk you through returning your settings to normal I'll need to know what version of netscape email you are using.

Can you open your Netscape email program, click on the help menu and choose "About", that should tell you what version you have.

It's Netscape 7.2. Thanks again -- I'd like to get this sorted!

ok, now please load your email program and follow these steps.

    1) click on "Edit", then select "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings..."

    2) on the new screen that pops up, click on "Server Settings" to the left

    3) on the right where it says "server name", it should have the value "localhost"

    4) underneath that, for the "user name", it should say something like xxx.xxx.xxx&yourusername.

xxx.xxx.xxx stands for your incoming mail server address, yourusername is your username for the account.

    5) if this is correct so far, continue with the steps. if not stop and let me know.

    6) replace "localhost" in server name with what it says before the "&" symbol in user name.

    7) replace what is says in user name with what it says after the "&" symbol

    see if it works now

Hey, Majjinbu -- that fixed it! I thought I'd tried all different combinations, but I never changed the user name. Thanks a million -- a frustrating problem solved!
