Speaker Headset issue

I am trying to get normal sounds from games etc i.e music, soundeffects comming through my speakers and having conversations with people using my USB headset comming out the earphone.
My motherboard uses VIA HD Audio Deck as standard which is where most of the functions of sound are. The problem is i have absolutly no idea what half of them are or what they need to be set at to get the desired effect.
I am fairly certain that what i want can be done as it is a general thing. Could anyone please help me get thsi to work?

Did you try browsing the manufacturer's website for support?

I would try tinkering with the Sound options in Control Panel to see what works or not.

 

manufacturer for the headset? doubt it, its an only ps2 usb that i got with a game many many years ago. It works fine but at the time i don;t think it was designed for pc use, i swear it worked at one time properly i just don;t know what everything was set at.
